Corner of Love is a Christian organization that serves the people of North Nicaragua through clean water and healthcare projects. Corner of Love leads teams of people from the U.S, Canada, Bermuda, Japan, and beyond to serve as missionaries in San Ramon and the surrounding villages.
Drake and Angela will be living in San Ramon for six months, working with existing Corner of Love programs and helping to prepare for new mission teams in February, March, and June.
5/8/2012 Update
Dear Friends and Family,
It has been a little quieter here in San Ramón this month, as we said goodbye to our last mission team in March and began preparations for our upcoming missions in June. Although these past few weeks have not held the same busy schedule as our first two months here, they have given us an opportunity to slow down and do as the psalmist writes in Psalm 46:10, Be still, and know that I am God. It has been a blessed opportunity to stop and take in the beauty that surrounds us in God's creation and to spend some time engaging in the culture of God's people here in Nicaragua.
This month marked the 90th day of our time in Nicaragua, an exciting achievement and also a reminder that our tourist visas were about to expire. To renew them, we were required to leave Nicaragua for three days. We took this opportunity to visit Costa Rica, Nicaragua's neighbor to the south. Our three days in Costa Rica were a time of rest and rejuvenation. We stayed near the city of Liberia, in the Rincón de la Vieja national park. Seeing tropical birds and monkeys outside our window really made us stop and say thanks to God for the splendor of His creation. We feel blessed to have been able to visit Costa Rica and feel a new spring in our step as we return to work here in Nicaragua.
Although we haven't been visiting villages or holding clinics, this month we have been preparing for the three "Promise" missions in June. One of the ways that Corner of Love seeks to serve the missionaries who travel with them is to provide each person with a job pouch or bag that includes many of the items they will need to easily fulfill their role while on a mission. During the month of April, we worked to empty, organize, refill, label, and catalog the 170 pouches and bags. We hope completing this task will help make the June missionaries feel well equipped to work in the clinics.
As we finish up old projects and begin new ones, we ask for prayer for Corner of Love as they grow and develop as an organization. Please pray with us as we ask for God's guidance in our future plans and that we will continue to trust in Him for our financial needs. We praise God for a missionary scholarship we received last month that will allow us to go to a nearby Spanish school in Matagalpa. Please pray for the people of Nicaragua.
We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers.
